Let’s decorate together our Christmas Tree: a Pinterest experiment!

November 4, 2017

As some of you may already know, my family and I moved to Ireland from Italy earlier this year on the very first days of July.

It was a very unexpected move: we had been thinking about it for a while but never took “The Decision!”… Sometimes if you think too long about something so life-changing you end up by not doing it (at least, this is what it is for us!!).

We had a chance to spend the month of July in a host family in Dublin and take advantage of that time to look for a proper house, and a couple of weeks before the departure we said: “Ok, let’s go!!” and we started packing what we thought were “the essentials” to be brought with us from Italy.

Of course as you can imagine there was no space for Christmas Decor (actually I did not even consider it). So a couple of weeks ago, trying to escape the pumpkins invasion (I don’t like pumpkins, sorry Ladies!) I started my hunt for Christmas decoration, trying to make the most of my little budget and of course considering that we will go back to Italy for at least two or three weeks at Christmas time.

And ta-dannnn: Instagram came to my rescue and made me meet the perfect solution:

Okay, so I know it’s only the first day of November but today I picked this beaut up on eBay for the princely sum of £8! Yes, £8!! And immediately started an Insta barrage of sales 😂 My sister @akermanstylist had this years ago, it’s from @ikeauk, could almost be described as vintage and I LOVE IT! If you’re getting in the Christmas mood, click the link in my bio and have a look at my Yorkshire Christmas Workshop that @pandora.maxton and I are holding on 1/2 December – it’s going to be brilliant fun with natural wreath making, creative decor and wrapping plus lots of beautiful artisan produce from local suppliers, complete with food styling and recipes. You’d be mad to miss it! Oh, and did I mention that there will be mulled wine and Christmas cocktails? 🎄 Insta Christmas has officially started 🙌🏻😑😂 📷 @apartmenttherapy #nevertooearly #letthespamcommence #christmas #christmastree #christmastime #ikea #interiorstyling #interior_design #interiorandhome #interiorinspo #pursuepretty #inspiremyinstagram #decorations #todayslovely #interiores #theartofslowliving #interieur #homeinspo #realhomes #beautifulhomes #deckthehalls #xmas #xmastree #instahome #instagood #scandinavianstyle #whitewalls #wallhanging

Un post condiviso da LISA DAWSON (@_lisa_dawson_) in data:

It is a fabric panel by Ikea, which is now out of production, and I found it on eBay as suggested by Lisa. It was already costing more than 8£ she paid for it,  but it was still a good deal anyway!

So my tree is on my way and I can’t wait to meet him!! and I am now on the hunt for some easy, unexpensive but scenic decors.

This is what I gathered so far from the web, as an inspiration again, but I’d like you to help me out and leave in the comments anything you may find browsing around:

Which style would you take as a guide? I will update you soon on my choices, in the meantime I would be super grateful if you could help me out Pinning to my board whatever you think may be looking good.

Please remember: it has to be

  • easily packableas we might be re-moving again soon
  • uneasily breakable (3 yrs old boy and a kitten are the reasons for this)
  • possibly unexpensive (…)
  • light enough as it will be hung on fabric!

Just write your Pinterest name in the comments below and I’ll add you to the Board!

I am pretty sure it will be fun!  🙂

Veronica

This is a lovely idea Veronica – my pinterest is pdextrous.
I love the image with the garlands strung in front – that would be really easy to do an inexpensive if you used scraps of paper / fabric. You could even recycle books or magazines… looking forward to seeing how your project develops 🙂
